Cedar BBQ Plank Recommended Instructions
Impress your friends, spouse or kids with the sumptuous subtle flavor of cedar infused into whatever you cook on the BBQ. These planks are 5/8" thick x 8" wide and 12" long, and are most commonly used to cook salmon or fish but can be used for poultry or meats of any kind as well. Shown here with chicken, prawns and corn in the husk!!!!
Soak them for at least one half hour before use (some prefer overnight), pre-heat them on the cooler side of the grill and place the food item on the plank over medium heat until done. Often the food can be cooked up to half way on the grill to get grill marks and some crunch and then placed on the cedar plank until finished. For delicate foods spray to the top of the plank with cooking spray or wipe with cooking oil to prevent sticking. Depending on how charred the planks ends up, they can be reused.
It is hard to go wrong using the cedar plank and because they are wood and cooler than the grill surface, so overcooking rarely occurs. You can experiment in many ways and also place already cooked items on the plank to keep warm. Even serve your food on the plank for a rustic and unique look.
